ECA's mission is to deliver ideas and actions for an empowered and transformed Africa; informed by the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063. The mission is guided by ECA's five strategic directions which aim to: advance ECA's position as a premier knowledge institution that builds on its unique position and privilege to bring global solutions to the continent's problems and take local solution to the continent; Developing macroeconomic and structural policy options to accelerate inclusive industrialization for poverty and inequality reduction; Designing and implementing innovative financing models for infrastructure, and for human, physical and social assets for transforming Africa; Contributing solutions to regional and transboundary challenges, with a focus on peace security and social inclusion as an important development nexus; Advocating Africa's position at the global level and developing regional responses as a contribution to global development issues. The subregional office for Southern Africa (SRO-SA) is located in Lusaka (Zambia). It is headed by a director who reports to the Deputy Executive Secretary (Programme). Its main objective is to contribute to achieving inclusive industrialization for the reduction of poverty and inequalities in Southern Africa with a particular focus on economic transformation through private sector development, value addition and value chain development to accelerate intra Africa trade through existing Free Trade Agreements (FTA), the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and regional integration. The position is located in the Sub-Regional Initiatives Section (SRIS) of the Sub-Regional Office for Southern Africa (SRO-SA). The Chief of Sub-Regional Initiatives Section reports to the Director of SRO-SA.
