The overall objective of UNEP's Industry and Economy Division is to encourage decision makers in government, local authorities and industry to develop and adopt policies, strategies and practices and technologies that promote sustainable patterns of consumption and production, make efficient use of natural resources, ensure safe management of chemicals and contribute to making trade and environment policies mutually supportive. The Division promotes the development, use and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments, managerial practices and other tools that assist in environmentally sound decision making and the building of corresponding activities. Please review internet address (http://www. unenvironment.org). This position is located in UNEP's Regional Office for West Asia, in Lebanon in the Industry and Economy Division of UNEP. The Programme Officer typically reports to the head of GO4SDGs.
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Resources and Market Branch and under the day-to-day supervision of the Head of GO4SDGs the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the GO4SDGs initiative in the West Asia region, by coordinating the activities to ensure an efficient delivery in alignment with the regional needs, strengthen strategic partnerships, and contribute to resource mobilization.
