This post is located in the Americas Division of the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations (DPPA-DPO). The Americas Division leads efforts for the prevention of conflict, mediation and sustaining peace in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Division is responsible for the delivery of the Department of Political Affair's strategic priorities with regard to the countries, as well as regional and sub-regional organizations, in the Western Hemisphere. The Americas Division serves as the focal point on Indigenous issues for DPPA, which is mandated to analyze trends, monitor, and prevent conflicts involving Indigenous Peoples. Under the overall direction of the Division Director, the Political Affairs Officer will work under the direct supervision of one of the Team Leaders of the Division. The Deputy Director will serve as the second reporting officer.
