The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the United Nations agency mandated by UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. UN-Habitat is a focal agency for the New Urban Agenda’s monitoring and implementation. It supports with all partners the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular, Goal 11 of "Making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable". With its Headquarter in Nairobi, Kenya, UN-Habitat's Regional Programme Division has its Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) in Fukuoka, Japan. ROAP engages with over 30 developing countries in Asia and the Pacific and has 15 country offices. (https://fukuoka.unhabitat.org/en/about/) The position is located in ROAP’s Fukuoka office. The Programme Management Officer typically oversees a small number of staff in the Regional Office itself while many more in country offices. Mission travel is frequent in order to provide the oversight and support roles needed.
