The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The Executive Secretary of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) Secretariat has overall responsibility for the operation of the Secretariat and the discharge of its functions as outlined in the Convention and as elaborated by the various resolutions and decisions of its governing bodies, such as, the Conference of the Parties (COPs), the Standing Committee (StC), and the Scientific Council (ScC) including CMS administered Agreements and memoranda of understandings (MOUs). The position is located at the Bonn duty station. Within delegated authority given by the Executive Director, the Executive Secretary is responsible for all programmatic, budgetary, financial and human resources matters related to the Secretariat and will perform the following duties:
