The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities. UN-Habitat is the focal point for all urbanization and human settlement matters within the UN system. UN-Habitat works with partners to build inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and communities. UN-Habitat promotes urbanization as a positive transformative force for people and communities, reducing inequality, discrimination and poverty. The incumbent will be responsible for directing and enhancing the capacity of UN-Habitat New York Liaison Office in providing substantive support to ECOSOC, the General Assembly, relevant General Assembly main committees and other inter-governmental bodies. The incumbent will also be responsible for planning and organizing UN-Habitat’s involvement in inter-agency activities and advise on UN Reform and UN 2.0; and undertake the programmatic and administrative tasks of the New York Liaison Office. This position is located in the United Nations Human Settlement Programme Liaison Office in New York.
