The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is one of the five regional commissions under the jurisdiction of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. It comprises 56 member States and covers Europe and parts of Central Asia and North America. As a multilateral platform, UNECE facilitates greater economic integration and cooperation among its member countries and promotes sustainable development and economic prosperity through policy dialogue, negotiation of international legal instruments, development of regulations and norms, exchange and application of best practices as well as economic and technical expertise, and technical cooperation for countries with economies in transition. This position is located in the UNECE Office of the Executive Secretary, Fund Support Team of the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia Multi-Partner Trust Fund (SPECA MPTF). The Programme aims to strengthen sub-regional cooperation in Central Asia (Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) and its integration into the world economy. It is jointly supported by UNECE the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), focusing on water, energy, and environment; sustainable transport, transit, and connectivity; trade; statistics; innovation and technology for sustainable development; and gender and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SPECA MPTF was established by UNECE and UNESCAP in 2024 to provide a flexible, inclusive funding mechanism for practical joint programmatic development and implementation, and is administered by the UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office (MPTFO). The SPECA MPTF’s Steering Committee, in line with the SPECA MPTF Terms of Reference, approved the creation of a Fund Support Team to be located at UNECE. Under the direct supervision of the P3, Programme Management Officer, and overall supervision of the D2, Deputy Executive Secretary, and in close coordination with the respective units at UNECE, the Administrative Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
