The new YPP Polnet test will be administered on 8 February 2018

The United Nations Examinations and Test System experienced a technical glitch resulting in a temporary test interruption during the administration of the Young Professionals Programme (YPP) POLNET Examination.

The system experienced connection problems for just over an hour, between 04:15 PM and 05:30 PM New York time on Thursday 19 October 2017, which meant some candidates could not access the system or conclude the test during that time. This challenge only affected a limited number of candidates, about 15% of the convoked YPP POLNET candidates.

To ensure that all candidates have a fair and equal chance of completing the examination, the United Nations has decided to open a new, but equivalent test to all candidates who want to re-attempt the test. This new YPP POLNET Examination will be administered online on 8 February 2018 between 07:00 AM and 11:00 PM (New York time). Check on to determine the corresponding start and end time of the test window in your time zone. The new test on 8 February will be administered in the same way with the same time allocation as the test given on 19 October 2017 and the reading list will also remain the same.

The goal of all United Nations Online Examinations and Tests is to ensure the highest levels of objectivity and fairness. In this case, the most reasonable and fair decision was to allow all candidates the same opportunity to take a new, comparable YPP POLNET Examination. All candidates who experienced technical challenges may retake the new test. Candidates who completed the test on 19 October 2017 also have the choice to either apply their score from the first attempt or to redo the test. In the interests of fairness to all, test scores for the first attempt will not be made available. All candidates who choose to re-attempt will see their first attempt nullified. The scores from the second attempt will be the final scores applied. Thus, candidates are encouraged to think carefully about whether or not they redo the test. In another attempt to ensure fairness of process, the questions from YPP POLNET Examination administered on 19 October 2017 will be made available as the practice test for the new test.

The YPP POLNET candidates have been asked to indicate their choice of whether or not to redo the test in February via an online survey no later than 15 November 2017 5:00 pm (New York time). If you do not complete the survey by the deadline, your first attempt will be considered for marking and you will not be able to retake the new test on 8 February 2018. If they have already completed the survey and would like now to change their decision, they may do so until the deadline by going back to the survey clicking on the link they were sent earlier and changing your responses there.

We would like to reassure all candidates that we have created a log of all those affected and are working on a plan to ensure that you are allowed a fair opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and abilities in the YPP assessment process.
