Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in the UNMISS Movcon Liaison Office in Mombasa, Kenya. The incumbent will report to the UNMISS Movcon Officer in Mombasa or his/her designate.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of Movement Control Officer, the incumbent shall perform the following duties:

•Arrange the movement of inbound and outbound cargo via all applicable modes of transport (air, river, sea, and road), complete cargo manifests and other documentation, arrange customs clearance and related documentation, ensure cargo (including dangerous cargo) is loaded in accordance with International Regulations;
•Supervise the receiving and shipping of cargo to ensure quantities, destination and routing are correct, physically verify the existence and condition of containers/shipments;
•Monitor and ensure delivery of cargo and communicate shipping details to all concerned parties;
•Liaise with vendors/C&F Agents to ensure effective and timely delivery of shipments within the delivery time-frame of UNMISS task orders
•Ensure dangerous goods are transported in accordance with applicable international regulations;
•Prepare, compile and maintain the monthly statistics; including Key Performance Indicators;
•Follow up closely the flow of Customs documents downstream and upstream in collaboration with the C&F agents and MOVCON Juba
•Track and trace missing cargo and baggage
•Prepare and process monthly attendance records, MOPs/Waivers, leave requests, Claims, CMRs, e-job supply request and other documentation as required;
•Place and screen telephone calls and answer queries with discretion and receive visitors.
•Provide general office support services such as drafting routine correspondence and the distribution to various officials;
•Maintain unit files as required (both in hard and soft copies), administrative instructions and other related documentation;
•Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Important note: The post requires the incumbent to work shifts or alternate schedules which will include weekends and evenings.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent.

Assessment
