Result of Service

Objective:

Support the Ministry of Environment of Peru (MINAM) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of Peru (MINAGRI) in the development of a portfolio of productive initiatives (5) with investment potential (bankable) in the value chains of coffee, cocoa and sustainable forest management.

The consultant will be responsible for the following activities:


• Technical support in the identification and prioritization of productive initiatives (5) with investment potential (bankable) in any of their stages of development, in the value chains of coffee, cocoa and sustainable forest management.

• Technical support and accompaniment to productive initiatives in the development of project profiles that include the economic / financial viability section.

• Technical support in the identification and prioritization of actors in the financial sector, impact investment funds and global investment funds (individuals and legal entities not domiciled), and their existing financial services, terms and conditions with the potential to channel resources to the productive initiatives identified and that have been the subject of accompaniment.

• Technical support in the articulation / linking of productive initiatives with suitable funding sources.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations System and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

UN Environment, within the UN-REDD Programme, is supporting the Government of Peru and specifically the Ministry of Environment (MINAM) in the implementation of a REDD+ National Joint Programme. As part of this Programme, UN Environment will be supporting the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of Peru in engaging the private sector in processes to that foster reduced deforestation commodity value chains (coffee, cocoa, and timber). One of the key activities under the private sector engagement thematic area is the development of a portfolio of bankable initiatives for sustainable commodity production.

UN Environment's Latin America and the Caribbean office requires additional capacity and expertise, in the form of a consultant, to identify, assess, and accompany key initiatives to build a portfolio. The consultant will report to the Programme Officer, Private Sector Specialist in the Latin American and the Caribbean office and will be physically in the office of REDD+ National Joint Programme.

Qualifications/special skills

Skills: Accounting, cash flow management, and cost and financial analysis
Academic Qualifications: Post-graduate degree in economics, administration, social sciences, environmental sciences, or related fields is desirable.
Experience: 7 (seven) years of professional experience in the agricultural, environmental, forestry or financial sector will be desirable. In absence of the required years of experience a masters degree will be accounted as years of experience
Language: Fluency in Spanish and working knowledge of English are required.
