Result of Service

The ultimate result of the service will be to deliver the banking work stream’s contribution to UNEP FI’s work plan under UNEP´s Project 623.3 indicated below (section 1.4), i.e. to support UNEP FI’s member banks and the banking sector more widely in contributing to sustainable development worldwide.

The duration of the contract is for 10 days between 15 June and 30 September 2019.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a strategic partnership between UN Environment and the global financial sector. UNEP FI works with approximately 220 banks, insurers and investors as well as a range of partners and organizations, to develop and promote linkages between the environment, sustainability and financial performance. Through its work-streams and regional activities, comprehensive work programme, training and research, UNEP FI carries out its mission to identify, promote, and realize the adoption of best environmental and sustainability practice at all levels of financial institution strategies and operations.

UNEP FI’s Banking Programme develops, implements and coordinates the work with our more than 140 banking members from over 50 countries.

The result of the services will be used to successfully support the Programme Officers of the UNEP FI Secretariat to ensure that FI Banking projects are running smoothly assisting them from a administrative perspective.

- Assistance provided to the UNEP FI Secretariat with the logistical arrangements for the official signing event of the Principles for Responsible Banking at UN headquarters New York 22 September for which 30+ CEOs, high-level guests are expected to attend. Assistance will include having participants badged and accredited.

- Assistance provided to UNEP FI Programme and Administrative Staff for the collating, printing and distribution of branding material, which will be made available for participants, for the official signing event of the Principles for Responsible Banking. Assistance will include having documents printed and distributed.

- Assistance provided to UNEP FI Administrative staff with reservations undertaken for the CEO networking lunch hosted by the new UNEP Executive Director, which will need to take place at a suitable venue in the immediate vicinity of the UN HQ on the 22 September 2019.

-Support provided to the FI Secretariat with Media accreditation undertaken and day to day communications including recording, streaming and audio-visual services for the room undertaken and booked at the UN Headquarters.

Specific tasks and responsibilities

The Individual Contractor will undertake the following tasks

• Security and access:
- Assist UNEP FI Secretariat (Individual Contractors and staff) with badges and access to the UN Headquarters.
- Assist with badges for delegates to the launch event at the UN Headquarters.
- Assist and advise with processes to distribute badges prior to the event.
- Advise on all other security and clearance process required.
• Assist UNEP FI Secretariat with bringing branding and distribution materials into the UN Headquarters.
• Assist with booking recording, streaming and audio-visual services for the room booked at the UN Headquarters.
• Assist with booking lunch at either the delegates dining hall at the UN Headquarters or a venue nearby.
• Advise on procurement processes for lunch, printing and other services required for the launch event and lunch.
• Advise on media attendance, accreditation and security clearance processes for the event.
• Assist with on-site communications on the day.

Qualifications/special skills

Skills: The candidate needs to have a strong knowledge of UN procedures around procurement, events logistics and managing VIPs. Substantial familiarity with security procedures at UN headquarters is required. Knowledge of procedures for inviting and liaising with media at UN HQ is required. Thorough knowledge of conference facility logistics at UN HQ is required.

Academic Qualifications: University degree in international relations, administration, development, business, environment, communications or a related filed.

Experience: A minimum of seven years of experience working at the United Nations, preferably at Headquarters in New York, is required. Experience managing UN procurement processes is required. A minimum of five years of experience in organizing/supporting the organization of high-level events is required. Experience in handling VIPs and managing the related protocols is required. Experience in liaising with media at the UN is required.

Language: English is the working language of UNEP FI. Knowledge of other United Nations languages is an asset.
