Cadre organisationnel

This position is located in the Substantive Web Applications Team (SWAT), Enterprise Applications Development (EAD), in the Information Technology Service (ITS) within the Division for Management (DM) of the United Nations Office at Vienna/United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNOV/UNODC), in Vienna. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the team leader (EAD/SWAT) and overall guidance of the Chief of the Enterprise Applications Development Unit (EAD).

Responsabilités

The Information Systems Assistant will perform the following specific duties:
•Participate in the development, programming, testing, debugging and implementation of new application systems releases, modules and functionalities using UN established standards for IT technologies, programming languages and tools.
•Serve as team member in the planning, specification, design, development, implementation and support of computer application systems; independently liaise with users to define and specify requirements.
•Prepare technical and user documentation for deployed computer application systems, as well as training materials and conduct technical presentations.
•Provide support for deployed computer application systems including version management, data recovery and deployment to users' offices; perform ongoing reviews with users and developers and respond to users’ requests.
•Keep abreast of developments in the field; perform benchmarking and propose new acquisitions.
•Provide guidance to new/junior staff.
•Perform any other work-related duties as required.

Formation

Completed secondary education in computer science or equivalent is required. Relevant additional post-secondary education or training is an asset. Training in computer technology and software development is required. Certification in Project Management or Prince 2 is highly desirable.

Expérience professionnelle

A minimum of 7 years of relevant technical work experience in systems analysis, development and programming is required.
Solid knowledge of/experience with Java technologies is required, e.g. Apache Tomcat, Hibernate, Spring, RESTful Web Services, Maven, Gradle.
Solid knowledge of/experience with Web Technologies HTML/CSS/Javascript is required, e.g. SAAS/Less, Bootstrap, JQuery, Angular, NodeJS, JSON and front-end build tools (npm, Grunt, Webpack).
Solid knowledge of/experience with SQL Databases is required.
Experience with CI build environments, code, issue management is required, e.g. GIT, Apache Bamboo, Bitbucket, JIRA.
Knowledge of/experience with XML and related standards, XML, W3C Schema definitions, XSLT is desirable.
Experience with Search and Indexing Technologies e.g. Apache Solr is desirable.

Connaissances linguistiques

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency/proficiency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
