Result of Service

The World Migratory Bird Day 2020 campaign is well prepared and organized. All WMBD products, such as the website, poster and social media channels are prepared, well managed and up-to-date. WMBD event organizers have received the requested support and the materials they ordered.

Expected duration

The expected duration of the assignment will be for 6 months, with a possibility of extension up to 12 months. The contractor will be required to work in the CMS Secretariat Office on a part-time basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the Coordinator of the Joint Communications Information Management and Awareness-Raising (IMCA) Unit of the UNEP/CMS and UNEP/AEWA Secretariats and in close collaboration with other IMCA staff, the individual contractor will assist in the organization of the World Migratory Bird Day 2020 campaign, by performing the following tasks:

• Assisting the IMCA Coordinator in the day-to-day management of the global WMBD campaign;
• Keeping track of all WMBD expenditures in close cooperation with other team members;
• Develop and maintain the WMBD website and social media channels, development of draft content for use on the website, news articles and other media;
• Assist with the validation and correspondence related to events which have been registered on the WMBD website ( www.worldmigratorybirdday.org );
• Supporting the management of the WMBD event map;
• Processing incoming and outgoing correspondence related to WMBD, including answering basic requests for information materials;
• Processing all WMBD-related mailings of information material such as posters, flyers and other promotional materials in close cooperation with the central mail office at the UN Premises in Bonn and Secretariat staff;
• Organizing meetings with WMBD partner organisations and/or CMS Family staff members as required;
• Developing a fundraising strategy for WMBD and support ongoing fundraising efforts by searching for new fundraising opportunities for WMBD;
• Preparing regular updates on activities associated with the campaign;
• Provide other support to the WMBD campaign as required.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: A first-level degree from a University or institution of equivalent status.
Experience: A minimum of one to two years of working experience in an international environment would be desirable. Proven experience in project management and campaign organisation would also be desirable.
Language: Excellent knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an asset.
