Cadre organisationnel

The internship of the UN Information Centre in Beirut (UNIC-Beirut) is for three months with an opportunity for extension for a maximum period of six months in total, depending on the needs of the Centre.
-The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
-Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of the Public Information Officer in the Centre.

UNIC-Beirut accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during an internship. Therefore, upon awarding an internship, candidates will be required to sign a statement confirming their understanding and acceptance of the conditions of service.


The interns will be supporting UNIC-Beirut’s staff substantively and will be responsible for carrying out the following:

1- Assist in organizing press conferences, meetings, briefings and other PR events by UNIC-Beirut;
2- Provide media support to events organized by UNIC-Beirut;
3- Draft in English and Arabic media advisories, press releases, talking points, statements, news stories, etc;
4- Update on daily basis UNIC-Beirut’s website and other social media platforms (facebook, twitter, youtube,etc) with relevant UN news and events;
5- Assist in taking photos for media coverage and archiving; and
6- Assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed.

Client Orientation - Considers all those to whom services are provided to be “clients” and seeks to see things from clients’ point of view; establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect; identifies clients’ needs and matches them to appropriate solutions; monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients’ environment to keep informed and anticipate problems; keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects; meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.

Planning and Organizing - Develops clear goals that are consistent with agreed strategies; identifies priority activities and assignments; adjusts priorities as required; allocates appropriate amount of time and resources for completing work; foresees risks and allows for contingencies when planning; monitors and adjusts plans and actions as necessary; uses time efficiently.


The following criteria are used to determine eligibility for the UNIC-Beirut Internship Programme:

1 - Applicants are enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (second university degree or higher) at the time of application and during the internship;
2 - Applicants pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree;
3 - The area of study of the prospective intern is related to the functional areas of UNIC-Beirut’s programme of work.

Expérience professionnelle

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the internship programme

Connaissances linguistiques

Fluency in two of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, namely Arabic and English, are required; knowledge of French is desirable.

Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and not publish any reports or papers based on such information except with the explicit authorization of UNIC-Beirut.

- Title of degree you are currently pursuing;
- Graduation Date (when will you be graduating from the programme);
- List the IT skills and programmes that you are proficient in;
- List your top three areas of interest/department preferences;
- Explain why you are the best candidate for that specific department(s); and
- Explain your interest in the United Nations Internship Programme.
