Expected duration

The total duration will be 5 months, starting on 15th April 2020 and ending on 14th September 2020.

Duties and Responsibilities

The consultant will assist the Secretariat in preparing, packaging and analysing data from different databases under the clearing-house mechanism, including the PIC database, status of ratifications database, the chemicals database (CRM), the documents management system (M-Files) and the electronic reporting systems (ERS) feeds and databases, to produce user-friendly, configurable statistical dashboards related to Parties’ submissions, as required by Parties under activity 25 of the programme of work for the biennium 2018-2019 of the three conventions. Under this activity, the parties requested the Secretariat to provide access to information submitted on uses, import and export of chemicals and wastes and to increase their capacity to monitor global trends on chemicals and wastes issues.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics or related field is required.
Experience: Proven experience in computer programming, database design and data analysis from complex databases are required for this consultancy. Proven experience in system's analysis and design, computer programming, including advanced programming skills in MS VB and C# for .NET platform is required. Experience in the development of applications using Microsoft Office, DotNetNuke Content Management System, JQuery, Kendo UI, MS SQL and relational databases, and MS Dynamic CRM design and development is required. Good understanding of latest web technologies such as restful web services is desirable. Experience in preparing statistical analysis based on complex and heterogenous data is desirable.
Language: Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
