Duties and Responsibilities

By decisions BC-14/27, RC-9/15 and SC-9/25, the conferences of the Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions decided that the next meetings of the conferences of the Parties would take place in 2021. The meetings will be held from 19 to 30 July 2021 in Geneva, Switzerland, and are expected to be attended by an estimated 1,500 participants. The tasks related to the organization of the meetings include preparing and reviewing documents, briefing notes and co-chairs’ notes, organizing logistics, managing website content, undertaking public awareness and outreach activities, as well as organizing preparatory meetings, teleconferences and briefings.

The Individual Contractor will support the Governance Branch of the Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions with the organization of the 2021 meetings of the conferences of the Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions. The Branch usually has a very high workload during the period preceding those meetings and this will be further exacerbated by the fact that a staff member will be on maternity leave.

The incumbent will in particular deliver meeting documents for the meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention; briefings, power point presentations and other outreach material; Bureau meeting agendas and documents; notifications, invitation and confirmation letters; fundraising concept notes; and President’s notes.
