The outcomes of this services will be used to strengthen UNEP FI communication activities and help achieve its goals as set out in its project documents. These services will also help the Initiative to promote its work, and also help member institutions to implement environmental considerations into their everyday activities.
These services will be an integral part of implementing UNEP FI’s work plan under UNEP´s Project 62-P2.

The duration of the contract is 1.5 Months.
The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a strategic public-private partnership between UNEP and the global financial sector. UNEP FI works with approximately 200 financial institutions, which are signatories to the UNEP FI Statements of Environmental Commitment, and a range of partners and organisations, to develop and promote linkages between the environment, sustainability and financial performance.
The Consultant will be asked to update and maintain the databases and websites of the UNEP Finance Initiative, its Extranet, and the Website for the Principles of Sustainable Insurance as well as associated ‘project sites.’ UNEP FI currently does not have the expertise in-house to undertake the below mentioned tasks, therefore it requires the assistance of a consultant.
The Consultant will be updating and maintaining the databases and websites of the UNEP Finance Initiative, its Extranet, and the Website for the Principles of Sustainable Insurance, as well as associated ‘project sites.’ UNEP FI currently does not have the expertise in-house to undertake the below mentioned tasks, therefore it requires the assistance of a consultant.
• In liaison with the Communications Officer, respond to all requests from UNEP FI staff to update and maintain all the different databases and websites of the UNEP Finance Initiative, its Extranet, Principles of Sustainable Insurance website, and associated ‘project sites’.
• Monitor the server environment of the above websites to provide usage statistics and to protect the websites from external hacker attack.
• Provide advice and/or recommendations and counseling to optimise use of computer resources for the UNEP FI community. Provide advice on and implement the development of the existing UNEP FI website.
• Continue to maintain and optimize functioning of the Training course database.
• Upgrade specific elements of the UNEP FI website, including menu system (UNEP site and project sites) with a responsive mobile-friendly menu, and the UNEP FI homepage visual identity and UX elements, in coordination with communications. This may include upgrading the ‘members’ area, and small developments, such as minor upgrades to the AOA project site, and Good Growth Partnership project site page.
Deliverable/Outputs:
• Website is functioning at all times. All recent software updates are installed, computer resources optimized, and hacking attempts suppressed.
• Website is informative and reflects the current activities of UNEP FI at all times.
• Database is structured so that UNEP FI staff are able to effectively communicate with their workstream membership.
• Communications Team are able to inform the global signatory membership of activities and news.
• UNEP FI managers are able to capture statistics on global membership through shared platform.
• Generation of spreadsheet reports are automated and carried out and efficiency of the training coordinators is improved.

Maintenance and user support
The consultant shall be under the overall supervision of the Head UNEP Finance Initiative (Eric Usher) and report directly to Signatory Relations and Regional Management Programme Officer UNEP FI. The consultant should take direction from the Programme Officer (Liesel van Ast) while final deliverables shall also be approved by Head of UNEP FI.
Skills: Expertise in communications and IT in the area of finance and sustainable development. Experience in environmental management, environmental technology, business etc. Effective communication skills. Excellent written and spoken English. Good analytical and problem-solving skills, familiarity with and experience in the United Nations system.
Academic Qualifications: Master’s degree in Information Technology field, computers, Administration, Web Development.
Experience: At least 7 years of experience within the Information Technology field. Professional experience within one of the following areas: international organizations, the financial services sector, private sector or NGOs, examining the intersection between sustainable development and finance is an asset.
Language: English is a working language of UNEP FI. Knowledge of other United Nations languages is an asset.
