Result of Service

The ultimate results of service include:

1. A common agenda, supported by 3-5 targets, that engages all actors, addresses key hotspots and leverages existing solutions along the food value chain.
2. A common agenda, supported by 3-5 targets, that addresses key hotspots and leverages existing solutions along the construction value chain
3. The approach for strengthening implementation of the common agenda for the plastics value chain

Duties and Responsibilities

The consultant will:

• Review the analyses of the food, construction and plastics value chains, as well as the analysis of the existing policies and initiatives.
• Plan the consultations as a series of online workshops that engage actors at different stages of these value chains to identify solutions and define a common agenda
• Propose and organise preparatory work that participants to the workshop can undertake to engage effectively in the consultations
• Organise and facilitate the consultations - identify and invite experts, develop agenda, facilitate discussions, prepare report, finalise recommendations
• Consolidate information derived from these consultations to develop the report and the common agenda that is owned by all participants.
• Prepare any required knowledge products (presentations, briefs, etc) required to facilitate the consultations
• Support sessions on strengthening the science-policy action on SCP post-2022

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: • University Degree (BA or Master’s level) in public information, political science, environmental science, journalism, or another related Degree ;
• The consultant should have knowledge and understanding in the area of environmental sustainability, natural resource management and sustainable consumption and production.
• He/She should possess good research and communication skills, strong writing and editorial skills, solid grammar and spelling skills, must have a thorough understanding of target audiences and must display proficiency in writing and understanding complicated concepts.
• The consultant should demonstrate creativity and attention to detail in his/her products and should have the ability to understand and interpret comprehensive scientific reports and identify key messages.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software is required.
Experience: • At least 3 years of professional experience in environmental management or relevant field.
• Experience with organising consultations and/or facilitating intergovernmental or multi-stakeholder processes.
• The consultant should demonstrate creativity and attention to detail in his/her products and should have the ability to understand and interpret comprehensive scientific reports and identify key messages.
• The consultant should have demonstrated experience working with diverse international stakeholders, ability to work in international environment and have excellent inter-personal and communication skills
• The individual should be impact and results oriented and should demonstrate ability to respond positively to critical feedback and different ideas and suggestions.
• The consultant should have flexibility and adaptability to work under pressure and meet specific deadlines.
Language: • For this position fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
