Expected duration

An expected 20 person-days are required to satisfactorily deliver all outputs, spread throughout the duration of the contract of 6 (six) months, from 1 April 2021 to 30 September 2021.

Duties and Responsibilities

The consultant will be expected to accomplish the following tasks:

Conduct research, consult, and interview for in the drafting content, including:

1. Hold preparatory discussions with the BRS Secretariat project team concerning goals, processes, priorities, selection criteria, structure, etc. and agree on a template for, and shortlist of, the Success Stories;
2. Research content which will include consulting with the BRS Secretariat staff in Geneva and Rome, the BRS regional centres as appropriate and interviewing key contacts from the regions;
3. Submit for review outlines of at least 6 Success Stories to BRS Secretariat Public Information Officer for discussion;
4. Based on feedback on the outlines, draft 6 BRS conventions Success Stories, each no more than 5 pages A4 including graphs, figures, photographs;
5. Liaise with representatives of donors and other stakeholders, if required, to capture accurately their contribution to the success story.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Environmental Sciences or related fields is required.
Experience: - At least ten years of proven experience in the international environmental field, preferably in the area of sound management of chemicals and waste and including familiarity with the work of the BRS conventions.
- Proven experience writing public awareness materials, in English, for use in communicating complex technical and policy subjects, preferably in the form of “Success Stories”.
Language: For this consultancy, fluency in oral and written English is required.
