The Enterprise Solutions Service (ESS) of the United Nations Office of Information and Communication Technology develops and supports a wide range of enterprise applications.
We are looking for a Geospatial Application Developer responsible for the management of geospatial data and the development of GIS web mapping applications.
He/she assists geospatial specialists or related professionals build, maintain, modify or use geospatial databases, and may develop custom web/mobile mapping GIS applications or provide technical support.
You will bring experience in geospatial information management support and web/mobile application development to help build the capacity of the ESS team.
Responsibilities:
‐ Carries out unit and functional tests using testing procedures to ensure compliance with design specifications and optimum performance.
‐ Identifies and prepares geospatial data for use in applications and processes, using relevant techniques for data conversion and scientific knowledge, i.e. photogrammetry, mapping, remote sensing, topography, geocoding.
‐ Uses computer tools for the preparation and maintenance of various types of maps, including geospatial software (Esri, open source, among others)
‐ Manages and documents (metadata) geospatial data sets assembled from different sources in accordance with geospatial information governance and quality standards.
‐ Translates detailed programming specifications into executable code using approved development tools and programming standards.
‐ Designs, builds and maintains geospatial applications (including web applications) that provide functionality to internal and external users.
‐ Performs unit and functional testing using specific test procedures to ensure compliance with design specifications and optimal performance.
Skills: ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS SDKs, REST, location services and mapping API are required.
Portal for ArcGIS, Geocortex SDK, Geocortex workflow designer, Geocortex report designer are highly desirable.
Academic Qualifications: A bachelor's or graduate degree in geospatial sciences (cartography, GIS, and/or equivalent) that involves geographic information technology and computer programming is required.
A first level university degree in similar fields, combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of the graduate degree.
Experience: - 3 years of development of GIS web mapping applications and geospatial data management are required ;
- Thorough understanding of ArcGIS development SDKs and the ArcGIS API;
- Proven knowledge and experience in geospatial database and data management are required;
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in spatial data integration, location-based services operations and web technology is required.
Language: Fluency in English is required.
