• Prepare specialized code according to the product definition to enable application development.
• Contribute technical expertise to requirements analysis to improve the quality of the solution design.
• Complete testing and gathering feedback to improve the quality and reduce the operational risk of developed applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Enterprise Solutions Service (ESS) of the United Nations Office of Information and Communication Technology develops and supports a wide range of internal enterprise applications.

You will bring external experience in supporting information management and developing web/window applications to help build the capacity of the ESS team.

Responsibilities:

Participates in design, development, testing, debugging computer applications from agreed specifications and subsequent iterations, using agreed standards and tools. Collaborates in reviews of specifications, with others as appropriate.

Produces detailed designs and documents all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate.

Perform quality control and quality assurance of the software developed to ensure that it meets user requirements. Organizes and performs unit testing, integrated and regression testing. Ensures that the testing is documented. Assists in services' deployment. Identifies and reports issues and risks.

If required, independently liaises with clients/users to define and specify requirements; ensure that new systems or systems’ changes meet their needs. Determines feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: A first-level university degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics or related field. Completed secondary education in a combination with more than 10 years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree.
Experience: • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems or related area.
• Experience with Web development using Microsoft technologies: C# .NET, Net Core, JavaScript frameworks, API (REST, SOAP).
• Experience with Unit testing, DevOps and Agile development.
• Thorough knowledge of relational database management software (e.g. SQL Server) and SQL is desired.
Language: Fluency in English is required.
