Outputs/Work Assignment
1. Promo materials on RECI project at 3 ESCAP websites, to accompany the training on managing portal & simulation model toolkit (placeholders are in the following link: https://drrgateway.net/regional-toolkits) for Kazakhstan, Mongolia (in April) and to Kyrgyzstan (May)
2. Briefing and UN public materials to support the signing ceremony (April)
3. Media support in delivery of the subregional meetings for NCA, such as SPECA WG on ITSD (May or October), in Uzbekistan
4. Media support in preparation and delivery of regional meetings, including maintenance of 3 website updates (latest November), in Bangkok

Duties and Responsibilities

ESCAP’s role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership, through analytical, normative and technical cooperation, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region.

In order to enhance ESCAP's visibility, ICT and Disaster Risk Reduction Division (IDD) and Strategic Communications and Advocacy Section (SCAS) are seeking to a consultant to perform visual design. The Consultant is expected to assist Economic Affairs Officer of IDD and the Public Information Officers of SCAS in developing and preparing visual communications products which enhance ESCAP’s presence in intergovernmental meetings, online platforms and other promotional materials.

Under guidance of Public Information Officer, the Consultant will perform the following duties:

Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist Public Information Officers in soliciting multimedia and design requirements from various offices
• Prepare a suite of visual products including branding, flyers, pamphlets, backdrops, typography and motion graphics
• Assist IDD and SCAS (Public Information Officers) in background research for audiences and visual style to be carried on ESCAP promotional materials
• Design and produce infographics, social media packages, motion graphics, animations, publication templates and other visual products to promote ESCAP’s work among relevant constituents
• Assist in the production of promotional materials including photography, videos, documentary and digital materials
• Provide photography service as assigned
• Carry out other duties as assigned

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: A first-level university degree in communication, journalism, multimedia, arts, design or related fields.
Experience: A minimum of two-year experience in design, visual communication, journalism, public information, or related areas. Experience with visual design for social media platforms or promotional materials is desirable.
Language: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
