Org. Setting and Reporting

The Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) internships are unpaid and duration is three months with the opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the Executive Directorate.
The intern must be fluent in English and Chinese in order to review working documents.
Due to COVID-19, the internship will be conducted on remote basis. The internship to start as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the internship position encompass all aspects of the Directorate’s work. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:


•Assist in gathering, selecting and analysing data contained in communication and publications received from difference sources, including the UN meetings, reports of international and regional organizations, and the press.
•Assist in preparing documents needed for setting up arrangements for the organization of CTC/CTED meetings, workshops and seminars.
•Prepare background notes, talking points for meetings, missions and other events attended by CTED staff;
•Research, draft and update country profiles and other background documents in preparation for high-level meetings and other events;
•Review, translate and edit documents as required;
•Attend and take notes at meetings, conferences and other events; assist in the preparation of summaries and reports of discussions;
•Assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed.

Education

Applicants must be enrolled in graduate degree programme in political science, international relations law, disarmament, security, development management, conflict resolution or related area (e.g., LLB., JD, LLM, PhD) international affairs, or political science.

Work Experience

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Languages

Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of Chinese is highly desirable.
