Result of Service

The purpose of the assignment is on one hand for the consultant to create mock crime scenarios, material and drafting of guidelines for the different types of CSI kits and its procurement

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision and substantive guidance of the Scientific Affairs Officer, the consultant will support member states in the activities of the UNODC laboratory including the conception and creation of UNODC crime scenes and CSI identification kits, the provision of drug and/or precursor reference material, the preparation of training material and other activities as in the specified tasks below:

A. Draft of specifications for different types of CSI kits and items and technical support for procurement and training purposes.
B. Creation of scenarios and mock crime scenes for training purposes.
C. Creation of handouts and documents for optimal training curriculum.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in forensic science or a related field is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:
• Experience with drafting technical or scientific documents related to forensic investigation is required.
• Experience with research in any area of forensic field is desirable.
• Experience in designing and delivering courses is required.
• Sound professional judgment is required. Good team working skills is desirable. Sound advocacy, liaison skills and ability to interact and relate with people at any level is desirable.

Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
