In line with the GGKP work programme the consultant will be expected to work a total of 45 work days over the duration of this consultancy( USD 496/day for 45 work days, spread across 01 August 2021 to 31 July 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. General Background

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations system’s designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action.

UNEP, in partnership with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), serves as the joint host of the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) Secretariat on behalf of the GGKP Steering Committee (UNEP, GGGI, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and the World Bank). The GGKP is a global network of over 70 international organisations, research institutes, and think tanks focused on promoting a green economy transition by:

● identifying major knowledge gaps in green growth theory and practice and addressing these gaps by promoting collaboration and coordinated research; and

● using world-class knowledge management and communication tools to provide practitioners, policymakers, and other experts with opportunities to access, share, and utilize green growth policy analysis, guidance, information, and data.

A consultant is sought to fill the need of the Resources and Markets Branch to assist in the editing of web pages, knowledge products, blogs, news articles and other communication and knowledge materials across the industry, finance and policy platforms.

2. Purpose and Scope of Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to assist the GGKP with its implementation and is expected to include the following tasks:
• in consultation with the Head of GGKP and communication partners, review, edit and copy-edit drafted web, online and print knowledge and communication content.
• ensure consistency in communication styles across GGKP platforms and knowledge and communication channels.
• assisting in other operational tasks as necessary for the outputs.

3. Monitoring and Progress Controls

The key output of the consultancy will be:
• development of publication-ready web pages, knowledge products, blogs, news articles and other communication materials across the three GGKP platforms, measured in amount equivalent to work-days performed within a payment period.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: • Advanced (Master’s) degree or equivalent in public administration, communication, international affairs, journalism or closely related area with significant writing component. Three years of relevant work experience in addition to the minimum experience requirement along with a Bachelor’s degree may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
Experience: ● A minimum of five years of accumulated work experience that includes experience in drafting, editing and copy-editing technical and public communication materials in areas of green growth.
● Experience in an international organization, and familiarity with green growth finance and industry (private sector business) concepts, initiatives and tools, are a plus.
Language: ● English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Fluidity and attention to detail in written English is particularly required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language, especially French and/or Spanish, is an advantage
