Duties and Responsibilities

The international consultant will write the 15-Year Historical Review of UNPOG. The expected length of this publication is of 70 pages (Word format, Times New Roman, 12). The publication will highlight achievements in the past five years and selectively incorporate inputs from the previous 10-year Review. The publication will feature numbers, results on the ground and testimonials. It will also include lessons learned and recommendations on how UNPOG can be further strengthened to become a knowledge hub and platform for exchange of good practices and innovative solutions in public governance. This publication will be published and made available both online (DPIDG and UNPOG websites) and in printed form. The findings will be presented during the 15-Year Anniversary of UNPOG in November 2021.

The consultant will undertake the following work assignments:
1. Prepare the outline of the publication;
2. Prepare the first draft of the publication in accordance with the guidelines to be provided by DPIDG/UNPOG;
3. Prepare the script of a short promotional video to be played during the 15-Year Anniversary Event in November 2021;
4. Prepare the script of the PowerPoint Presentation to be delivered during the 15-Year Anniversary Event in November 2021;
5. Finalize the publication
- Incorporate DPIDG’s feedback and comments in the final draft;
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of language and style throughout the report;
- Ensure that the text adheres to the United Nations language style;
- Ensure that endnotes, references and headlines are standardized;
- Ensure that figures, tables, graphs and boxes (if any) are standardized and accurate in terms of numbering and flow.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree (Master’s or doctoral) in social sciences, public administration, public policies, development studies, development management, information technologies or related area is required.

Experience: 10 years of experience in writing and editorial work, including drafting publications, preferably in subject areas covered by the United Nations or other international organizations. Knowledge of public administration, public policies, digital government and activities of the United Nations is desirable

Language: Fluency in English in both oral and written is required.
