The Disaster-Related Statistics Framework (DRSF) was endorsed by the ESCAP Committee on Statistics in 2018. The Committee expressed its support for the development of training materials to support the implementation of the framework in countries. Following up on the recommendations of the Committee, ESCAP in collaboration with partner agencies has developed training materials for in person workshops to build capacity in countries for the compilation of disaster related statistics. In order to reach a broader audience in a cost-effective manner, ESCAP also has developed an e-learning course in English to support countries in the compilation of disaster related statistics for monitoring the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and national risk reduction policies. The training is aimed at those working in national statistical offices, national disaster management agencies and other who are working to compile statistics on disasters.
ESCAP has taken the global lead in the development the methodology and capacity-development for disaster-related statistics. As such, to further support countries in the uptake of the disaster-related statistics framework (DRSF), Spanish translation of the e-learning course on DRSF is needed.
