Duties and Responsibilities

This study aims at understanding the disadvantaged position of young people in the labor force in the selected countries in the Egypt, Jordan, and Tunisia. In these countries, youths face much higher levels of unemployment than their adult counterparts or young people in other regions of similar levels of development. Moreover, youth employment appears to be much more concentrated in low skill and unstable informal sector work. In particular, in these countries youth never attending school emerge as a particular policy concern. Uneducated and educated youth alike appear to be stuck not only in low income jobs but also face a high risk of unemployment.

Moreover, the labor force participation of women in these countries appears to be determined by marriage. The purpose of this consultancy is to understand the role of marriage in transitioning from school to work in these selected Arab countries.
