The consultant will conduct research on augmented reality filters for social media; discuss options of said filters with the Public Awareness and Outreach (PAO) Team; produce a series of at least ten customized filters for the #PlasticIsForever social media challenge; implement potential changes, as suggested by the PAO Team; test the final selection of filters on social media platforms; and publish said filters according to a schedule provided by the PAO Team.

The Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions (BRS Secretariat) brings together the three leading multilateral environmental agreements that share the common objective of protecting human health and the environment from hazardous chemicals and wastes.
A consultant is required to assist the BRS Secretariat in producing a series of customized social media filters, which will be used in the #PlasticIsForever social media challenge.
Under the overall supervision of the Public Information Officer, the consultant will be responsible for the following:
(i) Present the PAO Team with the results of an in-depth research of augmented reality social media filters in the fields of international relations and environmental science by 21 February 2021;
(ii) Produce a series of social media filters (minimum ten) to be used in the #PlasticIsForever social media challenge by 15 April 2021;
(iii) Carry out testing on a minimum of three social media platforms to ensure filters work properly by 15 May 2021;
(iv) Publish selected filters according to schedule provided by the PAO Team by 1 June 2021.
Academic Qualifications: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in computer science, software engineering, software development, social media marketing, media production, or a related field is required.
A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience: • Minimum of five years of experience in social media content management is required, of which three years of experience in software development is required.
• Experience in producing social media content in an international organisation is desirable.
• Experience is supporting global social media campaigns is desirable.
Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an asset.
