Result of Service

Through the work of the incumbent, the CTCN will further operationalize its Youth Climate Technology Programme. The CTCN’s Youth Climate Innovation Labs & Academy will be implemented and further developed. Collaboration with the UNFCCC youth constituency, YOUNGO, will be strengthened and induction materials prepared for the youth representative on the first official YOUNGO seat in the CTCN Advisory Board. Capacity building and knowledge sharing activities for youth will be conducted in collaboration with partners such as Network and Consortium members.

In addition, the structure and content of the CTCN knowledge management system will be up to date and user-friendly, and CTCN’s knowledge sharing activities will deliver utility to key CTCN stakeholders in climate technology transfer issues. A dedicated landing page for youth and technology will be developed and deployed. Procurement and administrative coordination of knowledge and youth-related activities will enable efficient delivery of intended impacts.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) promotes the accelerated transfer of environmentally sound technologies for low-carbon and climate resilient development at the request of developing countries. Among its key services, the Centre provides tailored technology solutions, capacity building and knowledge sharing. As part of its service delivery, the CTCN mandate from Decision 2/CP.17 states that the CTCN is to facilitate the preparation and implementation of technology projects and strategies taking into account youth considerations to support action on mitigation and adaptation. As such, the CTCN aims at promoting existing innovation capacity of young people to deliver endogenous climate technology solutions in their countries as well as supporting mutual exchange of knowledge and experiences.
Likewise, the CTCN seeks to maintain its online knowledge management system in order to support information coordination for the CTCN's operations and to offer online information on the CTCN's technology services, technology descriptions, publications, webinars, etc. to those engaged in climate change action and decision making around the world.
A consultant is therefore sought to provide support for the maintenance of the CTCN's knowledge sharing activities and youth programmes.

Qualifications/special skills

Skills: · Has very good communication skills, written and spoken.
· Knowledge of climate technology from an international perspective and/or interest in the work of CTCN is required.
· Knowledge on youth activism and youth-led climate action and/or youth development challenges is required.
· Knowledge of climate agenda and relevant internationally agreed outcomes (SDGs, NDCs) is required.
Academic Qualifications: • Enrolled in or completed master’s degree or equivalent, in environmental studies, governance, climate studies, youth, social science, development studies, or related field is required
Experience: · Demonstrated track record in development of conceptual models, and implementation of projects in the field of climate, environment based on substantive analysis is required.
· Demonstrated experience developing knowledge products, guidance manuals, toolkits and publications is considered as an asset.
· A relevant experience in the field of youth empowerment and climate action (support to youth participation in climate action as an activist, young educator or youth worker).
· Experience working in an international organization.
· Experience engaging with the private sector and/or entrepreneurial studies and programmes is considered an asset.
Language: · Strong communication and writing skills in English are required. Knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
