Result of Service

The services of an individual contractor are needed to contribute to the development of technical materials and organization of capacity building activities to Lebanon on trade remedies and to Arab countries on the use of the Arab trade simulator Interface ATSI.

The IC will work under the direct supervision of Mr. Mohamed Chemingui.

In particular, the IC will be tasked to do the following:
• Research, compiles, analyses, summarizes, and presents basic information/data related to activities on trade imbalances and trade remedies in the Arab region.
• Systematically follows through and retrieves, highlights and compiles information on Trade analysis in the Arab region from a wide variety of information sources; prepares inputs on the subject as required.
• Participate to the delivery of technical assistance activities to MSs
• Prepares statistical tables and graphs and assists in the preparation of presentations and background substantive material on trade integration related deliverables.
• Undertake specific analyses on selected subjects related to trade integration
• Translates from English and French to Arabic and vice versa upon request.
• Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

This assignment for Individual contractors/ researcher is part of Technical cooperation to Lebanon and training on Arab trade simulator Interface (ATSI).

The services of an individual contractor are needed to assist the project coordinator to prepare technical materials and capacity building activities to member states. More particularly, the research assistant will be involved in the delivery of technical assistance to Lebanon on reforming trade policy and to member states in capacity building activities on using ATSI for trade analysis.

Qualifications/special skills

Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft office applications is required.
Academic Qualifications: An university degree in a field related to applied economics is required with strong skills in Trade.
Experience: Two years of experience in the field of research and analysis of trade policies.
Experience and knowledge of Statistics and other sustainable development issues is desirable.
Language: Fluency in oral and written English and Arabic. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
