Duties and Responsibilities

The position is located in the Communications Campaigns Service of the Strategic Communications Division in the Department of Global Communications (DGC) in New York. DGC's Communications Campaigns Service develops and implements communications strategies and global campaigns on the organization’s key priority issues. In this context, the Junior Digital Creative Producer will report to the Digital Campaigns Unit lead with a focus on digital content creation, production and coordination.

Reporting directly to the lead of the Digital Campaigns Unit and in close collaboration with the social media and thematic teams within the Communications Campaigns Service:

• Participate in group brainstorming around campaign briefs provided by Communications Campaigns Service. Campaign topics can include, but are not limited to, Education Summit, Countering Hate Speech, Sustainable Development Goals, Climate Action, Ocean Decade, and Peace and Security.
• Support in all stages of the digital content creation and production process
• Research, fact check and turn information into compelling social- and web-friendly creative concepts and copy for digital assets (e.g. explainers, infographics, data viz, reels, quizzes, interactive features, etc)
• Pitch, script, storyboard, mock-up and produce high-quality, audience-optimized, engaging digital assets optimized for the UN’s global digital platforms (campaign websites and social media).
• Support photo and video research
• Support in the design and presentation of creative pitches and decks
• Adapt existing digital assets produced in Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Premiere and/or After Effects. Adaptions can include re-formatting files for various social formats, adjusting designs for translated content, video subtitling and transforming art files into Canva templates.
• Organize, update and maintain Trello boards on digital campaigns. This includes adding new and existing visual assets to boards with clear labels and instructions for use.
• Deliver all final design/video files with layers clearly organized and marked up with associated art and fonts in Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere and/or AE

Qualifications/special skills

Skills:
• Demonstrable portfolio in one of the following: visual communications, digital content creation, multimedia production, information design, digital campaigns and/or creative advertising, especially for global social media and website platforms
• Demonstrated experience producing social-first, audience-optimized visual content from conceptualization to publication on digital channels for global campaigns.
• Digitally savvy and abreast of latest trends in digital campaigning and visual storytelling.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following: digital media or social media content creation, multimedia production, creative copywriting, information design, graphic design, video production, project coordination
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in one or more of the following: Photoshop, Illustrator, AE and/or Premiere
• Familiarity with tools such as InVision, Trello, Canva, etc
• Digitally savvy, hands-on self-starter, with strong time management and planning skills.
• Works well independently and within a matrix team structure
• Strong interest in digital content trends and social causes

Portfolio: In application, please submit portfolio link demonstrating experience in design and digital visual asset creation.

Academic Qualifications: BA in Multimedia Journalism, Advertising, Graphic Design, Visual Effects, Visual Communications, News Design or related field

Experience:
• At least 3 years relevant experience in digital campaigns production, multimedia journalism, news design, video production, advertising, graphic design, motion design, and/or related field, especially for global social media and website platforms
• Experience working on campaigns for social causes desirable
• Experience working for international organizations, news media, advertising or in-house creative department desirable
Language: Excellent knowledge of English is required. An intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is a plus
