The Cash for Work (CfW) Project Manager directly reports to the Deputy Director UNRWA Affairs (Programmes).


• Plans, directs and coordinates activities of the project ensuring that goals and objectives are accomplished within a prescribed time frame, funding parameters, project aims and components and UNRWA rules and standards; provides technical, operational, financial and managerial oversight, advocacy, information management, solving problems and coordinating activities with stakeholders to ensure continuity of operations and efficient performance of project personnel;
• Leads the entire project cycle management of all project components (job creation, shelter rehabilitation, maintenance of premises, infrastructure works and sanitation works) including internal and external coordination;
• Oversees and monitors the management of tendering, contract preparation, together with control of the budget of all project components;
• Coordinates all components of the project with the UNRWA project team and programme support office, community, concerned Lebanese authorities and other UNRWA Departments /Offices in order to ensure all components of the project are completed in accordance with the agreement, project targets and UNRWA planning and procedures;
• Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders; liaises with UN agencies, beneficiaries, NGOs, the Palestinian factions and committees an local camps' community, donor and governmental bodies to ensure full coordination, oversight and accountability requirements for the advancement and implementation of the project activities;
• Coordinates and prepares the agreed monthly and semi-annual progress reports that will show ongoing progress and results on agreed upon targets and expenditures over time.

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution in business or public administration, developmental or civil engineering or other related fields of study.

Work Experience

At least eight 8 years of progressively responsible and relevant experience at national and
international level in project management in complex or multi-sectoral projects across
programmatic areas is required;

A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in a supervisory role is required;

Unless already serving as an international staff member in the UN Common System, a candidate for international posts must have a minimum of 2 continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA, and outside the country(s) of which the candidate is a national or holds citizenship, a passportor a national identity number is required;

Experience in microfinance, self-help, infrastructure, engineering or related projects' activities is desirable;

Experience with labor-intensive projects is desirable;

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution is required in communications, journalism, public relations, political science, economy or other related fields of study.

Type of Contract and duration: Fixed term project funded, 1 year extendable subject to availability of funds, need and performance.
