Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Secretariat, the consultant will perform the following tasks:

(1) Review of information on BAT/BEP to control and reduce mercury releases submitted by parties and stakeholders, existing literature including BAT reference documents under different jurisdictions.
(2) Development of draft guidance, its presentation at the online meetings of the expert group, and communication with experts to collect technical information.
(3) Compilation, review and analysis of inventories of mercury emissions and releases, including the extraction of data from international and national databases of emissions and releases such as pollutant releases and transfer registers.
(4) Development of a final report including draft BAT/BEP guidance and analysis of emissions and releases inventories.

Qualifications/special skills

An advanced university degree in environmental science or related field. A bachelor degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying working experience in environmental analysis may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience: At least three years of experience in the field of environmental analysis.

Languages

Language: Fluency in English, including strong drafting/writing skills is essential.
