Duties and Responsibilities

Service Management
• Manage, prioritize and take ownership of tasks assigned to Oracle Database team as required
• includes service requests, change requests, incidents, project tasks and others as required
• Monitor and take ownership of tasks assigned to Oracle Database team ensuring completion within SLA targets

Technical Support
• Provide support for all Oracle Database Hosting SDAs
• Design, install, configure and support Oracle Grid infrastructure including Real Application Clusters (RAC), ASM and databases
• Administer and support Oracle Exadata systems including storage provisioning, VM provisioning, patching and upgrading
• Implement backups using RMAN, standby databases using Data Guard, monitoring using Oracle Enterprise Manager
• Assist in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of database automation tasks using Ansible and related technologies
• Perform database clones and backups using RMAN as well as NAS storage snapshot/clone/replication technology
• Provide on-call support (either on-site or remotely using VPN connectivity) outside normal working hours as required on a rotational basis
• Other database administration tasks as required.
• Provide support for setup/architecture of Oracle Enterprise Manager including setup of monitoring, alerting and scripts/interfaces to Help Desk systems
• Manage NAS shares for use with Oracle databases and related systems
• Co-ordinate with Oracle Support for resolution of problems and incidents
• Perform troubleshooting and performance tuning activities as required
• Apply database patches, updates and perform upgrades
• Assist in the planning and running of disaster recovery tests
• Perform capacity management and reporting as required
• Produce documentation as required
• Perform support activities during planned maintenance windows outside of normal working hours
• Perform other duties as required

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications:

A university degree or master's degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, Business Administration, Management, or other related disciplines;

Experience:

• Minimum of 7 years of experience for a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years for a master's degree in IT management, and Oracle DBA experience.
• Experience with latest version of Oracle Enterprise Manager including installation, configuration, patching and upgrading
• Oracle Exadata administration experience, including upgrades and patching
• Extensive knowledge and support experience of:
o Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
o Oracle Dataguard
o Oracle RMAN
• Experience in automating database administration activities

Desirable Certifications:

• Oracle Database Administration certification
• ITIL Service Management intermediate or expert
• Prince2 foundation

Desirable Experience:

• Oracle OVM administration and support
• Oracle Enterprise Linus or RedHat Linux administration and support
• Oracle Direct-NFS experience
• Experience with Ansible or other automation technologies
• Experience with NetApp NAS (or similar) hosting Oracle databases

Contract Conditions:

¿ The duration of the consultancy is 6 to 11 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds.
¿ Remuneration for this consultancy will be $1,800.00 and depend on fund availability, qualifications, and relevant experience.
¿ The incumbent will be in any UNRWA field of operation (Gaza, West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan).

Additional Information

UNRWA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNICC to enhance livelihood and human development opportunities for Palestine refugees in Gaza. By this new collaboration, UNRWA becomes a provider of Information Management and Technology services and capacity augmentation to UNICC technical team on a cost-recovery basis through IMTD/IT Service Center (ITSC) in HQ-Gaza.

UNRWA Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD) is seeking Oracle Database Administrator to be part of DBA team which currently has 6 members spread across various locations (Valencia, Geneva, New York, Nearshore, Offshore).

The consultant will report administratively to the Head Information Technology Service Centre at Headquarters Gaza and report technically to United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC).
