The contractor will ultimately:
• Provide technical assistance to meeting organizes before, during and after conferences;
• Schedule virtual meetings and events on a range of online conference platforms;
• Prepare conference rooms, as well as configure and test the AV system needed for the session;
• Operate AV equipment and assist meeting attendees during conferences;
• Provide technical assistance for interpreters during interpretation sessions and ensure that the interpreters booths are functional;
• Ensure that the audio/visual equipment’s software is updated;
• Provide meeting’s report on time;

The individual contractor will be working with the ICT section at ESCWA.
The Communications Technician-Video Conferencing Technician is responsible for providing:
• Scheduling virtual meeting and event on various online meeting platforms, setup and administer virtual meeting
• Identify the audio-visual requirements for a given conference and perform the appropriate actions to set up a meeting room for in-person and virtual meetings.
• Ensure that the conference equipment required for each meeting has been tested and is in good working order in advance. Working knowledge and experience in the following areas are necessary for this: Cisco conferencing endpoints, gateways, and gatekeeper (Expressway); online virtual conference platforms Zoom, Ms-Teams, Cisco WebEx; Remote simultaneous interpretation (RSI) platforms KUDO, Interprefy, and Interacio; Operation of audio mixers; LAN/WAN protocols and technologies; and a general understanding of satellite communication technologies.
• Provides technical support for conference attendees and meeting organizers before, during and after the event.
• Operating relevant room equipment during the conferences and overseeing the entire conference to ensure that all equipment is functioning properly.
• Assist to installs, configures, and tests audio, video conference hardware/software using available communication and network connectivity, such as audio video codec, audio mixer, microphones, simultaneous interpretation systems, audio/video recording, live streaming encoder, conference monitors, and computers.
• Provides training for conference systems users, interpreters and a new technical support team.
• Assist with Inventory management tasks including receipt, inspection, issue, return, write-off and stock checks of CIT equipment.
• Perform other duties as required
Completion of secondary school education or equivalent technical school is required.
Higher education or additional courses/training in audiovisual communication would be desirable.

A minimum of 5 years of experience operating Audio & Video Conferencing equipment and remote simultaneous interpretation systems is required.
The following skills are desirable:
- Experience in scheduling and managing events using online meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams meeting, WebEx meetings and events, and Zoom meetings & Zoom webinars.
- Experience in providing technical support in virtual and in person meetings.
- Experience in setting up Audio Video conference equipment in meeting rooms for virtual and in person meetings.
- Experience with computers and telecommunications is required.
- An overall knowledge of telephony and IP networks, LAN/ WAN protocols and technologies.
- Knowledge of UN conference setup.
Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA.
For this position, fluency in English is required.
