Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Chief, HIV/AIDS Section, Drug Prevention and Health Branch, Division for Operations, UNODC, and based on the operational tool “Establishing and delivery of evidence-based, good quality, effective Opioid Agonist Therapy services” the consultant will deliver eleven tailored trainings, based on developed training package on establishing and implementing OAT programmes for and with people who use drugs.

The consultant will deliver as the main trainer, together with UNODC staff and local experts:

• Six two-day face-to-face national trainings;
• Four virtual trainings;
• One training of trainers (TOT)
• The consultant will prepare the teaching materials and adjust it if needed, and will do the pre- and post-training evaluation.
• UNODC will identify and invite the participants.

All trainings are on establishing and implementing OAT programmes for and with people who use drug.

Qualifications/special skills

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in public health, or in another relevant discipline is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in HIV/AIDS especially as it relates to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support services for people who use drugs is required
Very good analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to communicate clearly and effectively, proven ability to produce reports and papers on HIV prevention, treatment, care and support services for people who use drugs is required;
Sound organizational skills, ability to work in a team context and collaborate with colleagues of different cultural backgrounds is required

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
