The consultant is expected to hold the following key duties and responsibilities:
• Prepare for the 2023 environmental inventory and future inventories
• Follow-up with UNS to determine how the 2022 data was collected and by whom
• Carryout consultations for the development of an inventory management system across the entity’s country, regional and headquarter offices and identify required trainings
• Collaborate with the SUN on environmental inventory data requirements
• Calculate OCHA’s environmental footprint in pilot field offices and provided calculation tools
• Work with the IMU to submit OCHA environmental data into OCHA’s Environmental Dashboard and ensure its links to the SUN dashboard
• Check results to ensure proper processing of data
• Work with the SUN team to ensure inventory data is in the formats requested
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or above) or specialization in a field related to environmental sustainability, science/engineering. humanitarian or international development or fields such as risk analysis, environment, climate, political science, business management, social studies, or related field.
A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience with at least 2 years of work on environmental inventories/ with humanitarian actors (UN agencies, NGOs, governments, etc.) with humanitarian actors (UN agencies, NGOs, governments, etc.) is required
Ability to demonstrate professional competence in data analysis with a high attention to
detail is required.
Ability to communicate across functions, gather large amounts of information and distil into succinct concise actions is desirable.
Demonstrated expertise in environment management and/or climate change programming is desirable.
Experience in the use of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is an asset.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
