Duties and Responsibilities

Org. Setting and Reporting: The position is located in the Field Technology Section in the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) at Srinagar HQ. The ICT Assistant Individual Contractor (IC) perform the duties under the direct supervision of FTS’s Information Communications Technology Assistant and overall supervision of the FTS Chief Service Management unit. ICT Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance of all data/voice connectivity in Srinagar HQ and, if required on exception basis, in the Field Stations Jammu, Rajouri & Poonch Field Stations (FSs).
2. Provide support for all ICT installations mainly in the Srinagar HQ and, if required on exception basis, in the Field Stations of Jammu, Poonch & Rajouri in the following areas:
a. Activate/Deactivate Video Conferencing system and MS Teams connections in Srinagar HQ when required.
b. Corrective basic maintenance for MS Teams installations when required.
c. Corrective basic maintenance for Radio (HF/VHF) installations when required.
d. Corrective basic maintenance of telephone system when required and guided by FTS focal point.
e. Corrective basic maintenance for VSAT installations.
f. Servers and data network equipment’s basic maintenance as per requirements and guidance.
3. Provide a support of quality on all software products: Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Office 365 etc.), Operating System (Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows server 2008/2012/2016). The internet tools (navigators, e-mail, etc.). Network devices (switches, routers.) diagnosis of the hardware.
4. Preventive maintenance of ICT installations on monthly basis.
5. Ensure that all ICT services provided to the Field Stations operate satisfactorily under the supervision and guidance of the UNMOGIP supervisor based in Srinagar.

Qualifications/special skills

Diploma / Post-secondary education in Computer science IT related field.

At least 5 years’ experience in a client-oriented ICT enterprise with a minimum 2 years of experience in Network Administration / Client support. Prior experience working in an international organization will be an advantage. Certification in MCSE, MCSA, CCNA is an added advantage.
