Org. Setting and Reporting

The position is located in the Delivery Management Team of Umoja in the Department of Management in New York. The Information Systems Assistant (SAP BW/HANA) reports to an Information Systems Officer.

Responsibilities

SAP Business Warehousing [BW], SAP HANA is an advanced computing platform designed to accelerate business processes, deliver stronger data intelligence, simplifying the traditional data warehousing architecture and maximizing the speed and scale of reporting by reducing the complexity of data movement and preparation as well as reinforcing the ability and agility to integrate and aggregate enterprise data into a single view in order to facilitate decision-making.

This position will serve to reinforce the ERP project's capacity for the ongoing development and implementation of SAP BW and HANA in the Umoja solution, particularly to design and build new functionality of the HANA/BW integration and operation, including semantic layer, data reporting structure, extraction models, analysis of the landscape infrastructure and platform upgrades.

Under the supervision of an Information Systems Officer, the Information Systems Assistant (SAP BW/HANA) will be responsible for the following duties:

•Provides basic technical and on-going production support, troubleshooting and maintenance of tools and environments in SAP/Umoja BW/HANA platforms, resolving data load issues.
•Resolves data load issues.
•Supports development and maintenance of SAP BW/HANA objects.
•Assists in development and maintenance of core BW workflows and HANA objects using relevant SAP tools [e.g., Info Package, Info Objects, DSOs, Info Cubes, Multi providers, Transformations, Process chain, Data Sources, etc].
•Assists in ongoing development of Extraction, Transformation and Load (ETL) jobs in BODS that transfer data from SAP and non-SAP systems and generate reports using Business Objects, Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports and Analysis Workspaces.
•Generates reports using Business Objects, Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports and Analysis Workspaces.
•Creates Graphical and Scripted views in HANA for publishing (or displaying) data to external applications.
•Develops Dashboards using Design Studio.
•Transports different BW and HANA objects using STMS, Git, etc.
•Assists in preparation of technical and user documentation, as well as in the production of training materials including reviews with users and technical personnel as required.
•Conducts research on new technologies as requested; keeps abreast of developments in the field.
•Assists in testing and evaluating new products and technologies.
•Provides guidance to new/junior staff.
•Performs other related duties as required.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience

A minimum of seven years of experience in information systems analysis and programming, systems administration and maintenance, software development, technical writing or related areas is required. Experience in SAP BW and HANA are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel is also required.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
