The position is located in the Delivery Management Team of Umoja in the Department of Management in New York. The Information Systems Officer (SAP Travel processes) reports to a Senior Information Systems Officer.

The scope of work of this position includes the travel processes and work in Umoja's SAP solution particularly in respect of the on-going configuration and integration of the travel work stream across the solution, such as HCM/PY, Finance, Funds Management and Grants Management.

In the context of the Process improvements work plan for the ERP project during 2017/2018 and under the supervision of a Senior Information Systems Officer, the Information Systems Officer (SAP Travel processes) will be responsible for the following duties:

• Develops detailed functional specifications and user documentation for Travel Management, including FRICEW objects (forms, reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements and workflow).
• Plans out and assists in respect of the improvement of process integration of Travel with other modules such as Financial Accounting (FA), Funds Management (FM), Grants Management (GM), Human Resources (HR) and Payroll (PY).
• Assists in the end-to-end formulation of improvements to the current Travel solution including design, build, testing, data conversion and related roll out activities.
• Tests and confirms that the solutions to be delivered are aligned with the Project's work plan and standards.
• Undertakes complex system analysis for the further configuration activities, including in respect of the related documentation processes.
• Provides Tier 3 support during and after deployment, including post-production support, on-going production support initiatives to ensure the correct and timely end-to-end handling of transactions in the system and the production of relevant reports.
• Defines and develops reporting on progress, completeness and correctness of data-related work for the ERP Travel processes, monitoring for validation of the integrity of the data.
• Develops reviews and refines the test scripts for all phases of testing and assists wit executing and validating testing results.
• Assists in the coordination of the testing of the travel processes (i.e., unit, integration and regression testing, preparation of test plans and scenarios, and supporting user acceptance testing, etc.). ensuring alignment with the system's application architecture and proper integration with the other Umoja modules.
• Assists in the development of user aids, training materials, instructions and procedures for Travel processes in Umoja.


-Knowledge of technical support of SAP Travel solution, including system configuration and integration of the travel processes with HCM/PY, FI, FM and GM modules

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in information systems, engineering, business administration, or related field. A first-level university degree in any of these fields, in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Training in SAP Travel is desirable.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in design and optimisation of business processes as well as end-to-end process re-engineering (Design, Workflow Analysis, Implementation, Testing, Training as well as roll out and production support) is required. Experience in design and optimisation of business processes, including end-to-end process re-engineering in public sector, is required. Experience in the operations of Travel Management, Human Resources or Finance within the public sector is required. Experience working with implementation of SAP for HCM and Travel solutions including integration with Financial areas (FI, GM and FM) is desirable.


English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a second official UN language, preferably French, is desirable.
