La réussite du test d’aptitude aux fonctions d’appui administratif (ASAT) à New York constitue une condition préalable pour que votre candidature soit réputée recevable dans le cadre d'une procédure de recrutement pour un emploi relevant de la catégorie des services généraux auprès du Siège des Nations Unies à New York. Afin de fixer un rendez-vous pour passer ce test, nous vous invitons à apporter en personne une copie de votre notice personnelle au bureau du Groupe du recrutement et de l'affectation des agents des services généraux et des catégories apparentées (GSRCSU), Secrétariat des Nations Unies, à l’adresse suivante : One United Nations Plaza (à l’angle de la 1st Avenue et de la 44th Street), Bureau DC1-200. Le GSRCSU accueille les nouveaux candidats chaque mercredi (sauf jour férié) de 10h00 à 12h00.
Les personnes qui souhaitent passer le test d’aptitude aux fonctions d’appui administratif font l’objet d’une sélection préalable. Les candidats retenus sont alors invités à fixer une date pour passer le test

Cadre organisationnel

This post is within the Copy Preparation and Proofreading Section (CPPS), part of the Meetings and Publishing Division of the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management, and is located at the Headquarters in New York. The incumbent reports to the Chief of CPPS.

Responsabilités

Within limits of delegated authority, the Production and Desktop Publishing Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
• Produces final page layouts of documents and publications intended for multi-channel publishing and storage on the optical disk database, ensuring that its final version conforms to UN style and typographic standards.
• Using appropriate desktop publishing software, (a) lays out, formats and finalizes verbatim records, and (b) lays out (text, tables, graphics and images), formats and finalizes publications.
• Checks files out of and into the publishing system database.
• Ensures that all page layout changes have been incorporated accurately and alerts responsible verbatim reporter/verbatim reviser or proofreader/production editor whenever errors or discrepancies are found.
• Participates, as a member of the Group, in the production of parliamentary and miscellaneous documentation, Security Council supplements and sales publications, and in the preparation of bi-text translation memories for verbatim reporters.
• Takes responsibility for the final formatting of verbatim records.
• Assists and replaces the Assistant Supervisor, when needed.
• Provides training, guidance and support to temporary and junior staff in the processing of basic and more complex documents.
• Rotates in day and night shifts, as well as weekend on-call duties, as needed.
• Depending on the needs of the service, availability for overtime is expected.
• Performs other related work as required.

Formation

High school diploma or equivalent. Must have passed the United Nations Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT) at Headquarters or an equivalent locally-administered test at Offices Away.

Expérience professionnelle

Several years of experience in desktop publishing, including typography and layout, or related area. Knowledge of editorial and desktop publishing best practices, including typography and layout, required. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite softwares, including InDesign, and database publishing management software workflows, is desirable.

Connaissances linguistiques

Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage. For this post, fluency in written and oral French is required.
