This position is located in the Administrative, Finance and Personnel Section (AFPS), Facilities Management Service (FMS), Facilities and Commercial Services Division (FCSD) of Office of the Central Support Services (OCSS), Department of Management (DM). FMS provides, among other tasks, customer services through implementation of the building, architectural and engineering services.
The duration of the internship is a minimum of two (2) months to a maximum of six (6) months depending on particular needs of the receiving programme. The Facilities Management Service internship is for three (3) months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the Office.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the Section/Office to which they are assigned.

Under the overall guidance of the Chief of AFPS and the direct supervision of the Associate Administrative Officer, Administrative, Finance and Personnel Section (AFPS), the intern will assist in the following duties:
• Assist in administrative actions related to the staff selection by screening applications, preparing matrix, scheduling written tests and/or competency based interviews, taking notes during interviews and/or drafting evaluations as necessary.
• Assist in drafting Job descriptions or Term of Reference (TOR)s for FMS posts due to restructuring of the Unit/Section.
• Coordinate and work with other administrative assistants in AFPS for updating document management systems. Also transfer electronic files from the share drive to UnitDoc.
• Assist in tracking procurement processes and updating the contract management system as needed.
• Undertake other ad hoc assignments as requested by the supervisor.
• Perform other duties as required.

To qualify for consideration for an internship by the United Nations Headquarters Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
1. Applicants must:
(1) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(2) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
(3) Have graduated with a university degree as defined in (1) and (2) above.
(4) Candidates who are selected, must commence the internship programme either prior to graduation or within one year of graduation from an academic programme as describe in (1) and (2). Applicants who are unable to commence the internship within one year of graduation shall not be accepted.
2. Be computer literate in standard word processing and spreadsheets software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel or similar.
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.
