The position is located centrally in the Finance Team of Umoja in the Department of Management. The Information Systems Assistant (SAP Finance Integration and Project Systems) incumbent reports to an Information Systems Officer(s).

Responsibilities

The scope of work for this position is the financial processes in the Umoja solution.

The position will support the design, build, testing and roll out of existing and new functionality of the Umoja solution, including in connection with the scope of work of the solution's new stage of Extension 2 which will be designed, built and rolled out for subsequent stabilization during 2017-2019.

Within delegated authority, the Information Systems Assistant (SAP Finance Integration and Project Systems) will be responsible for the following duties:

• Provides support for the technical resolution of integration across the landscape of Finance processes in the Umoja solution.
• Participates in the development, programming, testing, debugging and implementation of the existing and new functionality in the SAP Umoja solution in respect of Project Systems and Finance Controlling, including in respect of configuration.
• Assist in developing of system and functional specifications and user documentation related to project systems for various finance-related processes in the SAP Umoja solution; Assists in developing/refining support and operations procedures as related to the SAP Umoja for Project systems and Finance integration processes.
• Liaises with users to define and specify requirements.
• Monitors system performance using appropriate monitoring tools.
• Assists in preparing and maintaining technical documentation related to Project systems and Financial management functionality and processes in the SAP Umoja solution, particularly to provide support for project structures, documentation, tracking, reports, summarization, integration, Budgeting and Cost management, inter alia.
• Manages and administers changes to the technical documentation in accordance with prevailing change management and operation procedures.
• Contributes to unit and integrated testing of the Finance processes in SAP/Umoja, designs and executes test scenarios; assists users in acceptance testing.
• Drafts correspondence and communications; including work plan revisions and other related issues, as well as prepares unit contributions for a variety of periodic reports.
• Monitor priorities and risk in functional area processes and managing data.
• Keeps abreast of developments in the field; conducts research on new technologies; performs benchmarking and proposes new acquisitions; assists in the implementation of new technologies.
• Provides guidance and training to new/junior staff; plans day-to-day work and supervises other staff as required.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience

A minimum of ten years of experience in IT-supported Finance processes in an ERP environment, particularly integration, is required. Experience with application of Financial Rules and Regulations and Administrative Policies and Processes in the areas of Financial Management is required. Technical experience working with SAP Project Systems is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
