Cadre organisationnel

This internship is located in the Department of Management (DM), Office of Central Support
Services (OCSS), Office of the Assistant-Secretary General (OASG). The incumbent will be
reporting directly to the Special Assistant to the ASG. The internship is for three months
with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the Office. The internship is
UN PAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a
staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned. For more information on

Responsabilités

The Intern will be responsible for the following: Coordinates extensively with service units and liaises frequently with internal team members both at Headquarters and in the field; Prepares, processes and follows-up on administrative arrangements; Drafts routine correspondence; Updates database on internal reviews and approvals; Maintains files of rules, regulations, administrative instructions, and other related documentation; Performs other duties as assigned.

Formation

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following
conditions must be met:•Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be
enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum
Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined
above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation•
Candidates studying Management, Administration or similar field would be particularly
suited to this Internship•Strong writing and communication skills are required•Be familiar
with cutting-edge technology and tools and/or have experience with social networking and
collaboration platforms•Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations
and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and have demonstrated the
ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs,
which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and
views

Expérience professionnelle

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the
programme, although work experience with programming languages is an advantage

Connaissances linguistiques

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this
position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of
another official UN language is an advantage.
