Org. Setting and Reporting

The United Nations Environment (UN Environment) is the United Nations system's designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. West Asia Office delivers its support through projects and activities for capacity building, policy advise, advocacy, information and knowledge exchange, and awareness.Hence, UN Environment’s West Asia Office’s main objective is to develop relevant programmes to respond to the needs of the region, with a focus on enabling member states to achieve their visions for a sustainable future in line with the 2030 Agenda.

UN Environment, as the environment arm of the UN system, is mandated to address environmental issues and their management, and as such has a critical role to play in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on the full integration of the environmental dimensions across its implementation. The internship will support the identification of relevant entry points for UN Environment in supporting countries of the region in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and assist in the development of advocacy and outreach materials as well as practical interventions in support of initiatives undertaken by the various UN Country Teams with which UN Environment is working.
