Org. Setting and Reporting

These positions are located in the SPPM, PI-FIO, Programming Team of the ERP/Umoja project in the Department of Management in New York. The Information Systems Officers (SA Programming, HTML, UI5, Fiori, PO/PI/WEL) will report to an Information System Officer and/or Senior Information Systems Officer.

Responsibilities

The scope of these positions include technical work required for the implementation of the SAP software to maintain and develop the Umoja solution in respect of the existing functionality, work stream and processes as well as for new functionality coming up with the design, build and roll out as well as subsequent stabilization of the project’s new phase during 2018-2019 [Extension 2].

Within delegated authority, the Information Systems Officers are responsible for the following duties:

1. PROGRAMMING ANALYSIS, DEVELOPMENT and MAINTENANCE:

• Supports the analysis, design, programming development, configuration and implementation of SAP systems and applications, particularly in respect of programming on HTML5, UI5, Java Script and Fiori.
• Determines the integration and connections of SAP systems and application developments, including for the related integration landscape.
• Ensures the technical feasibility of development objects in any of the concerned systems of SAP[principally, Process Orchestration, Fiori apps and workflow development, including ABAP].
• Supports the design, development and maintenance of the following SAP technology streams, systems and tools as well as related connecting points:
- SAP Process Orchestration, including architecture and implementation of new interfaces for the Umoja solution
- Custom or Standard Fiori Applications and its respective 0data Layer
- ABAP development components (Forms/Reports/Interface/Conversion/Enhancements/Workflow) and/or
- Interfaces on Process Orchestration with java/xslt/standard mapping and/or
- BRM rules development and/or
- BPM modeling and configurations

2. PRODUCTION SUPPORT:

• Maintains, upgrades or enhances existing SAP systems and applications, including landscapes thereof, including interrelated systems and program elements.
• Ensures appropriate data security and access controls to SAP systems and applications, considering both local and wide area issues.
• Undertakes impact analysis of SAP changes or upgrades in relation to existing layer and functionality.

3. DOCUMENTATION, TESTING and TRAINING:

• Develops detailed system/technical and/or related functional specifications for SAP developments.
• Organizes and performs the related unit and integrated testing, designing and utilizing test bases; assists users in acceptance testing. Creates Functional Acceptance Testing Documents.
• Develops training materials, operating and user manuals.
• Trains staff in assigned systems.

4. OTHER:

• Keeps abreast of developments in the field and determines the need for testing and evaluating new products and technologies; provides leadership on introducing technological changes; prepares various technical reports.
• Provides guidance to, and may supervise, new/junior staff, consultants, etc.

Competencies

• Professionalism: Knowledge of analysis, design, programming development, configuration and implementation of SAP systems and applications, particularly in respect of programming on HTML5, UI5, Java Script and Fiori. Knowledge of Fiori applications and significant exposure to and demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of programming and analysis, including structured/object-oriented design, relational systems, scripting and query languages, document design and management, hardware and software requirements, systems facilities and execution protocols. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, to include proficiency in the development and implementation of systems of moderate size/complexity. Knowledge of interactive systems; good knowledge of organization’s information infrastructure and IT strategy as it relates to user area(s); independently maintains assigned systems and develops innovative approaches to resolve a wide range of issues/problems. Shows pride in work and in achievements; demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results; is motivated by professional rather than personal concerns; shows persistence when faced with difficult problems or challenges; remains calm in stressful situations. Takes responsibility for incorporating gender perspectives and ensuring the equal participation of women and men in all areas of work.

• Client Orientation: Considers all those to whom services are provided to be “clients” and seeks to see things from clients’ point of view; establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect; identifies clients’ needs and matches them to appropriate solutions; monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients’ environment to keep informed and anticipate problems; keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects; meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.

• Technological Awareness: Keeps abreast of available technology; understands applicability and limitation of technology to the work of the office; actively seeks to apply technology to appropriate tasks; shows willingness to learn new technology.

Education

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of SAP systems and applications, including deep dive experience in one of the following:

1. Process Orchestration (PO) developer and architecture of integration with at least 2 full cycles of PO implementation and integration technology [such as PI, IDOC, XML, Web Services, SAP BPM and BRM]; or
2. UX Development as well as architecture of integration with at least 2 full cycles of Fiori implementation and UX technoloogy such as UI5/JQuery. Front End Development with SAPUI5, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, Jquery. Knowledge of architecture and best practices for JQuery. Experience with MVC development model.
3. ABAP and Workflow design with development experience for each FRICEW elements and having gone through more than 2 SAP full implementations with experience in Operations and Support.
4. Experience with SAP upgrades - Impact analysis, SPAU, SPDD, Testing, Z-Programs and upgrade planning.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the postion advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
