Org. Setting and Reporting

The position is located in the SPPM team of the ERP office of the Department of Management in New York and has a dual reporting line to the lead of the SPPM Team and to the Project Director.

Responsibilities

The scope of this position encompasses various technical development and process integration requirements for the Umoja solution, including to enable the various workplans for Extension 2 to be developed and deployed during 2018-2019.

In the context of the project’s program of work to design, build and roll out the scope of Extension 2 during 2018/2019, the post serves as focal point for the following duties:

•SAP programming and Development: conceptualizes and establishes the methodology for the ongoing development of SAP software and application solutions and associated middleware (PO/BPM/BRM) through in-house development and/or through a third-party vendor, providing planning and technical direction to all concerned. Managing the daily operational activities that develop and implement tactical plans for multiple components/processes for the Umoja UE2 project. Assures ongoing technical analysis in respect of the design, build, testing, configuration and integration activities to that effect;

•Integration Architecture: Design and Implement Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Business to Business (B2B) and/or Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) integrations. Experience in implementing Business Process Management and/or Business Rules Management. The candidate will be responsible for business process analysis and redesign and implementation, provide business analysis skills, and process mapping.

•User Experience development [UX]: Leads the Fiori Development Team for implementing a new User experience as per SAP’s new product suite and Fiori Framework. Ability to architect a solution utilizing all aspects of Fiori Development and leveraging Hana capabilities. In addition, configure and enhance standard apps offered by SAP.

•Direction for SAP Security-related development: Formulate Security Strategy for Fiori Apps, and able to master the SAP User Provisioning Tool (SAP IDM) together with knowledge implementing SSO with Unite-ID (UN’s Corporate Identity Provider).

•Landscape and Application Roadmap/Lifecycle Management: Develop and maintain roadmap for enterprise applications. Responsible for software upgrades and patching. Assist all SAP projects and applications leaders with SAP architecture, enhancement, maintenance, support and SAP functional and technical implementation expertise.

•Assist in the implementation of Solution Manager 7.2 across the project with the intent to replace and streamline Change Management Procedures, Release Management Procedures, Upgrades and configuration of the standard dashboard of Solution Manager. Carries out a detailed analysis of existing processes of the solution in order to improve its functionality, taking into account the functional fit of the solution and the evaluation of inter-operability of existing processes and other administrative applications and processes. Assists the Project to ensure timely issue identification and the resolution of appropriate scenarios, including to formalize recommendations to Umoja’s Change Control Board;

•Leads the implementation of the Agile-Scrum software development methodology for the various development and integration processes for the ERP’s projects.

•May perform other duties as required.

Competencies

Professionalism: Knowledge of the full range of Umoja SAP suite of solutions, and ability to provide technical advice to the Umoja Director and team regarding systems design, and development, management, implementation and maintenance of complex information systems. In-depth all round technical and functional knowledge in SAP and network infrastructure. Ability to develop and oversee large centralized or decentralized institutional systems; conceptual and strategic analytical capacity to understand information system and business operational issues so as to thoroughly analyze and evaluate critical systems matters. Knowledge of a range of computer languages and development paradigms, knowledge of organization’s information infrastructure and IT strategy as it relates to user area(s). Ability to integrate knowledge with broader strategic, policy and operational objectives. Knowledge of organization’s information infrastructure and IT strategy as it relates to user area(s); strong negotiating skills and ability to influence others to reach agreement on difficult issues. Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Computer Science, engineering or related field. A first-level university degree, in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in the design, build, configuration and implementation of SAP, including practical experience in leading teams in these areas:

1.Strong experience in integration of SAP Process Orchestration (PO) and having completed at least 2 life cycles of PI/PO implementation and integration technologies such as IDOC, XML, Web Services. Experience in implementing SAP BPM, Business Rules Management (BRM). Practical experience in integrating with third parties (tax services, procurement, payment systems and medical providers).

2.Experience in UX Architecture and Integration with practical knowledge of Fiori implementations and UX technology such as SAPUI5/OpenUI5. Knowledge of architecture and best practices for using oData services with Hana as a backend. Experience with MVC development model. Exposure to Fiori in central hub deployment is required. Hands-on experience in enhancing custom UI5 applications using SAP Web IDE.

3.Experience in SAP ABAP development. Must have experience and expert knowledge of ABAP development objects including: Dialog programming, User-exits, BADIs, Smart Forms and/or Adobe Forms, ALV, BAPIs, RFCs, and other SAP development tools..

4.Experience in extensive Markup Language (XML), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP), Open Data Protocol (OData) and EDI.

5.Experience in all mapping techniques namely; XSLT, Java mapping and Graphical mapping. Coordinates integrations of Applications with other SAP modules such as BPC, PPM, PS, BI, HANA, Fiori, etc.

6.Experience in understanding of SAP Security Concepts such as Role-Based Authorizations and Structural Authorizations. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Must be able to work individually or within a multi-disciplinary team.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.

Notes:

• Duration of the position is 11 months and is limited to ERP GTA funding.

• A current staff member who holds a fixed-term, permanent or continuing appointment may apply for temporary positions no more than one level above his or her current grade. However, a current staff member who holds an appointment at the G-6 or G-7 level may also apply to temporary positions in the Professional category up to and including the P-3 level, subject to meeting all eligibility and other requirements for the position. Such retirees shall not be employed by the Organization, unless (a) the operational requirements of the Organization cannot be met by staff members who are qualified and available to perform the required functions; and (b) the proposed employment would not adversely affect the career development or redeployment opportunities of other staff members and represents both a cost-effective and operationally sound solution to meet the needs of the service.

• Subject to the funding source of the position, this temporary job opening may be limited to candidates based at the duty station.

• While this temporary assignment may provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post. An external candidate selected for this position is bound by the prevailing condition of the staff selection system under ST/AI/2010/3, as amended, and ST/AI/2010/4/Rev.1. A staff member holding a temporary appointment who is recruited in the Professional and above categories on a temporary appointment, and placed on a position authorized for one year or longer may not apply for or be reappointed to his/her current position within six months of the end of his/her current service.
