Cadre organisationnel

This position is located in the Evaluation, Analysis and Monitoring (EAM) Unit, Management Support Section
(MSS), Central Planning and Coordination Division (CPCD), Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM), New York. The EAM Unit monitors and evaluates key performance indicators for the Department mandated by the General Assembly. The incumbent reports to the Chief/Deputy Chief of the Unit.

Responsabilités

Under the supervision of the Chief and Deputy Chief of Evaluation, Analysis and Monitoring (EAM) Unit, the Programme Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

•Compiling, processing and manipulating data-sets from a variety of sources in support of monitoring, evaluation and risk assessment for global DGACM projects and prepares relevant reports on the same.
•Processing the data sets for the tables, including graphic displays, checks consistency of data series, tests for comparability of data and checks validity of data against classifications and standards.
•Facilitating the EAM-related departmental IT projects, including maintaining, Extracting, Transforming and Loading (ETL) data-sets, and writing SQL queries to retrieve data from conference management source systems into the DGACM reporting data warehouse (gData); installing business intelligence tools for the reporting data warehouse.
•Assisting with the data retrieval and maintenance from relevant databases, including gDoc, DIMO, eAPG, eMeets and gData.
•Maintaining all internal reports in SSRS, with server upkeep and creating new queries. Maintaining the gData Dashboard and develops new pages, with statistical reports, in HTML with relevant data, based on the user-requirements.
•Preparing charts, graphs and other outputs for reporting and presentation of various data. Converts data sets into a variety of forms (including ratios, estimates and projections).
•Responding to internal/external requests/queries.
•Defining processes to achieve specific outputs, modifies control processes according to specifications for data analysis, tests and revises programmes under the supervision of information technology specialists and produces the required outputs.
•Performing other duties as assigned.

Administrative Duties:
•Assists in the overall administration of the Unit.
•Compiles input (reports) from various units in the Department.
•Prepares draft report, verifies consistency of presentation.
•Monitors the timely submission of reports and mandatory revisions to project documents.
•Assist in writing communication and minutes of meetings.

Compétences

Familiarity with performance indicators central to the Department's mandates. Good knowledge of the statistical databases used for evaluation. Good technical skills, ability to participate in development and maintenance of applications, provide user support. Ability to respond to changing requirements and assignments, ability to apply good judgment in the context of assignments given. Formation

High School or equivalent diploma is required. Post-secondary education in statistics and/or data collection is desirable.

Expérience professionnelle

A minimum of five years of experience in programme analysis, statistics or related area is required. Experience in MS SQL query writing is desirable. Experience in SSRS, SAP Business Object, datawarehouse and conference management systems is desirable.

Connaissances linguistiques

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English is required; knowledge of a second official UN language is desirable.

Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.
