For frequently asked questions on the assessment process, please go to https://hr.un.org/page/assessment

Q:
How do I login to the online examinations and tests system?
A:

Go to assessments.un.org and enter the username and password that were emailed to you. Make sure to copy and paste both the username and the password directly from the email into the required fields in the “UN Examinations and Tests system” so as to avoid any typos or caps lock errors. When using copy and paste, make sure you do not select/copy any extra blank character.

Q:
How do I know I have to take a test?
A:

You should check the dates for the specific test you may have to take on following website: https://hr.un.org/page/assessment

Typically, 72 hours before the testing window opens, the “My Upcoming Test Schedules” section of the Inspira account that you used to apply will indicate whether you are invited for an online test. To access the considered section, from the Inspira “Home” page, click on the “My Applications” icon and then click on the link “My Upcoming Test Schedules”.

Typically, 72 hours before the testing window opens, you will also receive an email from no-reply@un.org containing password instructions for the “UN Examinations and Tests system” inviting you to log-on to the UN Examinations and Tests system.

Keep in mind that all dates in Inspira and on the UN HR Portal are based on Eastern time.

Q:
I have not been invited to a test that will take place shortly. What should I do?
A:

Typically, 72 hours before the date indicated for the considered test under the Assessments section of the United Nations HR Portal (https://hr.un.org/page/assessment), the “My Upcoming Test Schedules” section of the Inspira account that you used to apply will indicate whether you are invited for an online test. To access this page, from the Inspira “Home” page, click on the “My Applications” icon and then click on the link “My Upcoming Test Schedules”.

Keep in mind that all dates in Inspira and on the UN HR Portal are based on New York Time.

Typically, 72 hours before opening of the test window candidates shortlisted for an online test also receive an email from no-reply@un.org inviting them to take the online test.

If there is no test listed under the “My Upcoming Test Schedules” section of your Inspira account, it either means that you will not be invited or that invitations have not been sent yet or that you are being considered as a rostered candidate. Indeed candidates who have not met the eligibility or suitability criteria are not invited, and candidates considered as rostered candidates do not need to take the test.

If an upcoming test is listed under the “My Upcoming Test Schedules” section of your Inspira account but less than 24 hours before the beginning of the testing period you have yet to receive your access codes for the “UN Examinations and Tests system”, proceed immediately as follow:

1. Check your email’s spam/junk folder by searching for emails from no-reply@un.org.

2. If you cannot find the considered email, submit a request through the contact us page immediately.

Q:

Q:
I logged into the assessment platform, how do I access the test?
A:

Locate the test you wish to take on the UN Examinations and Tests system welcome page and click on the test name. It will take you to the test. Please note that you may have one or more tests to complete depending on how many job openings you applied to and may therefore wish to choose the test that will close the soonest.

Q:
How do I know if I have completed a test?
A:

A test may consist of different parts. And each part may consist of different questions. A test part can be completed by either navigating through all questions, answers as many as you can, and then clicking the “Submit Test” button on the test review page. Alternatively, a test part will automatically be submitted once the allotted time for the test part runs out.

Once you have submitted a test part, you should see a check mark appear next to the test on the main test page. In addition, a test progress bar that tracks the completion of all test parts is visible on both your home screen and the test page itself. The progress bar will turn be green to indicate the completion of a test part, and once all test parts are complete the entire progress bar should be green. A totally green progress bar indicates that all test parts have be submitted and you can now log out of the test platform.

After you completed all parts of one test and submitted the complete test, you should also receive an email confirmation completion of the test from no-reply@un.org

Q:
Can I retry or view a test once I have submitted it?
A:

No, you can only attempt at test part once. As soon as a test part it is submitted by you or automatically submitted once the allotted time for that test part runs out, you will not be able to start another attempt.

Q:
Can I pause a test once I have started it?
A:

You cannot pause a test part. Once you have started an attempt for a test part, there is no way to pause the timer or retry the test.

However, if a test has multiple parts, you can complete one part (without pausing) and wait to start the next parts as long as you complete all parts within the testing window.

Q:
I lost internet connection while I was taking the test. What should I do?
A:

Once the internet connection is restored, log into the UN Examinations and Tests system, go back to the test part you were taking when the connection dropped and carry on as long as the testing window is still opened. Note however that if the clock has run out on the considered test part, you will not be able to go back to that test part. No candidate will be allowed to resume a test part once the clock has run out which is why it is critical that candidates ensure adequate connectivity when taking a test.

Q:
I accidently closed my browser. Can I get back to my test?
A:

If a test is currently in progress, logging out or losing internet access will not pause the test. It is important that you return to the test as soon as possible by going back to the test site, logging in with your username and password, returning to your test, and clicking on the test part you were in the process of completing. Once you click on the test link a button will appear that reads “Continue last attempt”. Click this button and you will be returned to the last question you were working on.

Q:
The images in the test are not displaying properly. What can I do?
A:

If the images in the test are not displaying properly, first try reloading the page to see if the image will load. If any image does not fit onto your screen try re-sizing your browser to see if the allows the image to fit properly. If that does not work, try downloading the image to your computer and opening it from there.

Q:
I have completed the test. When and how will I get the results?
A:

If an applicant did not pass the a test, no further tests will be announced on the "My Upcoming Test Schedule" in the applicant’s inspira account or he/she will be invited to an interview within 2-6 weeks of having taken the substantive test.

In general, the application status will show “Under Consideration” until a selection decision has been made. Once the selection decision has been made, the selected candidates’ status will show “Selected”, while the status of those who were rostered (i.e., passed the entire selection process, but did not get selected) would show “Rostered”. The status of those who did not pass either one of the steps in the selection process (i.e., eligibility screening, General Ability Test, suitability check, Substantive Test or competency based / combined competency based and substantive interview) would show as “Recruitment Completed”.
